Vacancy: Chair of the Trustee Board
Overview
Voluntary role (expenses reimbursed)
Location: Remote + 1 annual in-person day (London)
Time commitment: ~4 evening board meetings per year + ongoing engagement with staff and stakeholders
Term: 3 years (renewable once)

Purpose of the Role
The Chair provides strategic leadership and governance oversight, ensuring the charity delivers on its mission. They:
Hold the Board and senior staff accountable
Ensure effective governance and financial oversight
Act as a public ambassador for the charity
Key Responsibilities
Guide the charity’s direction and long-term impact ensuring trustees fulfil governance duties
Ensure governance structures are effective overseeing risk management and financial health
Build and develop trustee capability, ensuring a balanced, skilled, diverse Board
Act as ambassador and spokesperson at events and with stakeholders
Chair meetings effectively and impartially ensuring strong participation and collective decision-making, ensuring actions and decisions are followed through
Build a strong, supportive but accountable relationship with senior staff
Person Specification
Experience of operating at a senior strategic leadership level within an organisation
Strong passion for the charity’s mission
Excellent interpersonal and diplomacy skills
Collaborative, inclusive leadership style
