MEET ‘N’ GRIEF

On the last Wednesday of every month, we host a free, online peer-to-peer support group, providing a safe space for anyone who has lost one or both parents to connect with others.

Hear what some of our Meet ‘N’ Grief attendees had to say…

"I really enjoyed meeting you and hearing everyone talk. It feels like a safe space. I've done other groups before but there's something different about doing it with other young people"

"Thank you - it's great to sit with people who understand. I feel a bit lighter having had the opportunity to talk about my dad today so thank you"

"It's been over 10 years since I lost my dad and I've only started doing these kind of meet ups. But I'm glad I'm starting to meet other people who have similar experiences"

Meet ‘N’ Grief FAQs

  • Our Meet ‘N’ Grief’s are an online peer support group. The group is for anyone who wishes to connect with others who have also lost one or both parents as a young person. We discuss any topics that people have been struggling with, memories, tips and they are just a space to connect with others going through similar situations.

  • Oli and Joanne host our Meet ‘N’ Griefs. Oli is a trustee at It’s Time and Joanne has her own Instagram page, @lostalongtheway_, which documents her grief journey. They both have lived experience and are there to support the conversations.

  • Of course! We understand that conversations around grief can be tough and you might want to leave.

We have break-out rooms if you just want a minute to yourself but if you just want to close your laptop, you’re welcome to leave at any time. We just ask that you tell Oli or Joanne through the chat!

  • The Meet ‘N’ Griefs are usually around 4-7 people.

We do cap the event, just so the group isn’t too big. This way everyone can share if they want to.

  • Everyone who joins, including Joanne and Oli, has been through the loss of one or both parents, so they understand. It’s a safe space and if you did get upset or emotional, no one would be judging you.

However, if you did feel it was too much you can go into a break out room. Joanne and Oli are there to help you and support you during these conversations, so you’d never be left feeling upset or alone.

And it’s not all sad, we often have lighthearted conversations where we can just laugh about experiences with others who relate!

  • We encourage everyone to get involved but only at their own pace.

You would never be picked on to speak or share, so if you did need to take a back seat that is completely fine.

  • Some people choose to share personal information but again it’s at your pace!

If you do, nothing will be shared. We do not record the sessions and the only time any information will be shared is if we feel someone is at risk of harm.
