Book review: Mother Mary Comes To Me

Mother Mary Comes To Me is the intimate and thought-provoking memoir of Booker Prize winning author and political activist, Arundhati Roy.

Packed to the brim with compassion and wit, there is no wonder the book club chose this as our third non-fiction book in a row!

At the heart of the memoir is Roy’s complicated and dysfunctional relationship with her mother.

Roy delves deeply into the uncomfortable and confusing feelings that arise from a strained relationship with a parent and perfectly illustrates how grief is not one size fits all.

"My body was straining to accommodate everything I was feeling - my sadness, my love for her, and most of all, my pent-up anger.”

This memoir is a comforting hug to anyone who had a difficult relationship with a lost loved one, and a reminder they are not alone.
